Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis
About Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis
Our telephone befrienders are trained volunteers who can give a listening ear by phone to anyone with Pulmonary Fibrosis (PF) carers and family members over 18. The volunteers are a mix of people with PF, carers, former carers, and people with no lived experience of PF but who want to support others. Through their lived experience, they understand how tough life with PF can be, and will be giving a few hours each week to offer peer support by phone.
You can refer yourself or we can receive referrals from health professionals and support groups, with permission.

Information for Volunteers
If you could be a listening ear for someone living with pulmonary fibrosis and can give a few hours each week to offer peer support by phone, we would love to hear from you. We will provide initial training, which includes practical aspects of the role, safeguarding, and wellbeing, and also provide ongoing peer support, follow-up training, and link you with a trained support supervisor.
Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a life-changing medical condition which makes it increasingly hard to breathe. There is no known cure and treatments are limited. Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis sponsors research into a cure and provides information and support, including a helpline, support groups, and telephone befriending.
