About Badenoch and Strathspey Community Connexions

Here to Help is a free local project run by the Badenoch and Strathspey Community Transport Company, offering a friendly Befriending Service for people who may be feeling lonely or isolated due to age, or because of a physical or mental health condition.

We offer face-to-face and telephone support — just a simple chat or a cuppa can brighten someone’s day more than you might imagine.

Referrals usually come through doctors, social workers, or family members — but we need kind-hearted people like you to help us keep it going.

You don’t need special skills or a superhero cape — just a bit of time each week and a willingness to listen and chat.

We have volunteers of all ages.

If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.

Let’s make our community a warmer place, one conversation at a time.

Scotland, PH24 3BF

Service Eligibility

We mainly support people living alone who live in Badenoch and Strathspey.

We accept referral from Drs, Social Work, family and we can also accept self referrals.

Simply call or email.

Information for Volunteers

Befriending isn’t just about providing care – it’s simply about taking the time to be with someone who could use a little company.

By meeting just once a week, you can bring warmth, laughter and companionship to someone who may be feeling lonely or socially isolated.  These visits often become the highlight of someone’s week – and we find they’re just as rewarding for our volunteers too!

Many of our befrienders say they’ve gained confidence, a renewed sense of purpose and made genuine friendships that have truly changed lives – theirs included.

You’ll receive full support and some helpful training to get started and we’re with you every step of the way.

So if you’ve got a friendly smile, a listening ear and a little time to spare – we’d love to hear from you.

For a relaxed, informal chat, get in touch.  Together we can make a difference – one cuppa at a time
