About Care and Share Companionship

Care and Share Companionship supports people over 60 years of age who are living in isolation or feeling lonely.  We offer face to face and telephone support plus special social events and outings from our volunteer companions on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.  Volunteers can take people to health appointments, shopping, visit to family or friends, going for a walk or to a place of interest to them.  They can visit at home and enjoy having a chat, finding out about the person they visit over a cuppa.  This can also give respite to carers to have a little me time.  This is a free service.  A small courtesy payment is requested for a refreshment for the volunteer if people wish to go out for a cup of tea or coffee.

16, East Fergus Place, Kirkcaldy, Scotland, KY1 1XT

Service Eligibility

We support people over the age of sixty living independently in their own homes and struggling with isolation and loneliness.
We are able to connect with people living in the Kirkcaldy area of Fife including Burntisland, Kinghorn, and Dysart.
We can support people with a very early stage dementia diagnosis, as long as the person is able to recognise and remember their volunteer from week to week.
We unfortunately are unable to support people living in care homes.
Referrals can be made by the person seeking support, by family members or friends, or through professional support services or agencies.  Please visit Contact | Care And Share Companionship | Kirkcaldy to request a referral form.

Information for Volunteers

Enrich your life by giving a little and gaining much more by volunteering with Care and Share Companionship.  We are a small but growing, friendly local charity supporting people over the age of 60 who are living in isolation and who are lonely.

Volunteers are offered induction and training, PVG disclosure, peer support, social events and mileage expenses.  We are looking for reliable, friendly, compassionate people from 18 years upwards who can give 1-2 hours per week or fortnight.  We’re also looking for volunteers interested in supporting our group events, and providing phone chats with people on our growing waiting list so they know they are not forgotten!  Make a difference in the life of a lonely or isolated person, meet new people from all walks of life, with interesting stories to tell.  Gain and share skills and become a part of our growing community.
