Careline
CarelineAbout Careline
Careline is a registered charity (No. 1068801) which offers a free telephone befriending service to people living in the Derbyshire Dales and East Staffordshire. We aim to make people’s lives better by calling those who feel in need of support they may be elderly, less able to get out, recently bereaved, feeling lonely or isolated. We offer friendship to the people we call and peace of mind to their family and friends. Our team of over 50 volunteers make the befriending calls, providing greater social interaction for our members and helping to give them the confidence to remain living independently. We monitor people’s well-being and pass on useful information about the services available to them in their local community. Our service is completely FREE and available every day of the year including weekends and bank holidays.

Information for Volunteers
We are always looking for new people of all ages to join our team of volunteers! We have a loyal group of over 50 volunteers, many of whom have been supporting Careline for years. The befriending calls are made either from our office in St Oswald’s Hospital or from home. So if you are less mobile but feel that you would like to become a volunteer please do get in touch. Your involvement can be as little as 2 hours per month or on a weekly or fortnightly basis, whatever best fits with your diary. Individual training is provided and you will receive on-going support from the Careline Befriending Co-ordinator and Careline Manager. A regular Newsletter keeps everyone up-to-date and volunteers have the opportunity to get together at a variety of social, fundraising and training events throughout the year. Our volunteers tell us that they find being part of Careline extremely rewarding and really enjoy the calls that they make to our members.
