If you’re in need of support, Chester Pride’s Befriending Service is here for you. Dedicated to addressing social isolation and mental health challenges in the local LGBTQ+ community, our objective is to enhance your mental well-being through personalized one-on-one peer support sessions. You’ll be paired with a dedicated befriender, who is focussed on helping you foster meaningful connections and boosting your self-esteem and confidence. Over a maximum period of three months, your befriender will empower you to achieve personal goals with their guidance, offering crucial early intervention. If additional support is required, we’re here to assist with further signposting and referrals to necessary services.

Information for Volunteers
Chester Pride is inviting you to join as a volunteer for our Befriending Service. Your involvement will play a crucial role in directly supporting and uplifting individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, making a significant impact on reducing social isolation and addressing mental health challenges. Through our comprehensive training package, you will acquire the skills and knowledge needed to provide meaningful support as a volunteer befriender. As a volunteer, you’ll engage in tailored one-to-one peer support sessions, focusing on boosting self-esteem, enhancing confidence, improving mental well-being, and helping befriendees achieve personal goals within a maximum three-month period. Your contribution is vital, and if further support is needed, you’ll play a key role in facilitating referrals to additional services.
