Church Urban Fund
WayfinderAbout Church Urban Fund
Wayfinder befriending is for anyone who is over 18 and has been homeless. Our volunteer befrienders meet people in their communities to provide practical assistance and a listening ear. Volunteers may help with admin tasks such as paying bills or registering with a GP. Volunteers also support participants to integrate in their communities, and may even attend groups with them. Volunteers work with participants for a minimum of 6 months, and a maximum of 2 years, providing support and stability as participants recover from homelessness.

Information for Volunteers
Wayfinder volunteers work with participants who have recently been homeless. We ask all volunteers to commit for a minimum of 6 months, working one-to-one with a participant. Volunteers meet participants in community spaces (such as cafes or community centres). They provide a non-judgemental listening ear for participants. Volunteers may also help with simple administrative tasks such as paying bills or registering with a GP. Volunteers seek to support participants to integrate in their communities, and may even attend groups with them. Volunteers are provided with training and ongoing support as they work with their participant.
