Dumfries & Galloway Befriending Project
About Dumfries & Galloway Befriending Project
Dumfries & Galloway Befriending Project recruits, trains and supports adult volunteers to befriend young people (aged 8 – 18 years) on a one-to-one basis. Our service supports young people who are suffering from low confidence, social isolation, bullying, recent bereavement or relationship challenges. We hope to improve confidence and develop the young person through one-to-one engagement with an accredited adult Befriender.

Information for Volunteers
Dumfries and Galloway Befriending Project is actively recruiting adult volunteers across the region. We have offices in Dumfries and Newton Stewart but our volunteer Befrienders reside all across the region. Training is delivered across 6 evenings – 2 hours per evening and focusses on role responsibilities. We ask Befrienders to commit to two hours per week, unless on holiday or have other personal commitments. The role of the Befriender is crucial to the development of our young children and can make a huge difference to their everyday life. All Befrienders have the support of a coordinator.
