Harrow Carers
About Harrow Carers
Our befriending service is unique. It offers elderly isolated unpaid carers a home visit or a call from a trained listening volunteer once a week for ten weeks. The volunteer gives the carer the opportunity to talk about their worries and concerns in a non-judgmental space. After the 10 weeks the carer is signposted to our other health and wellbeing services and support groups.

Service Eligibility
Any elderly unpaid carer within Harrow. By phone or by filling out an online phone. Self-referrals also accepted.
Information for Volunteers
The volunteer needs to commit two hours per week for six months. They are interviewed, using scenario based questions. They are trained in the art of empathetic listening, safeguarding and boundaries. Through befriending, our volunteers get an opportunity to connect with the community, to give something back, to boost their self-worth, to develop greater capacity to form and maintain relationships with others.
