Older Person's Service - FifeAbout LinkLiving
LinkLiving is a trauma-informed Scottish health and wellbeing charity that supports people of all ages to overcome the negative impacts of trauma, mental health, inequality, and isolation. The Older Person’s Service – Volunteer Befriender Programme provides volunteers who visit older people in their home, enabling them to connect to there community, help them improve their quality of life, reduce their social isolation and make them smile! ……….. this can often delay or avoid the need for more intensive support. We recognises that a lot of older people need help to get out of the house, someone to talk to, or help with small jobs around the house. Our Volunteer Befrienders offer support to help reduce social isolation, expand social networks, and increase resilience.

Service Eligibility
Our service users are elderly people living in Fife who feel lonely or isolated and would benefit from a little company, and support to get out and about in their community or to attend appointments. We offer light touch support that promotes independent living helping elderly people to maintain their skills and abilities, delaying the need for more intensive support.
Information for Volunteers
Linkliving holds an Investing in Volunteers accreditation which means we value our volunteers and offer a high-quality volunteering programme. We provide flexible volunteering opportunities spending time with a matched Befriendee for one to two hours, weekly or fortnightly. We provide induction, training, and ongoing support in this role with a named contact who is on hand to provide guidance and answer any questions you might have. We reimburse travel expenses and hold regular group support and social get-togethers for volunteers, staff and Befriendees. Linkliving loves to upskill their staff and volunteers are no different so you will find lots of relevant training available to you. We do our best to make your volunteering fun and valued. We are happy to answer any questions you might have so please do get in touch.
