Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice Befriending Service
About Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice Befriending Service
The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, Glasgow offers a Befriending Service to patients currently known to the hospice, who are living in their own home & are experiencing isolation and loneliness. A fantastic group of trained Volunteers will be matched to a suitable patient and will share interests and hobbies as well as providing support and companionship. The volunteer will spend between 1-3 hours on a set day , once a week for initial 8 weeks and following assessment and Service capacity may go on to receive further Befriending sessions. We are aware of the effects which isolation and loneliness can have on a person’s mental well being and that in turn can have a detrimental effect on their physical health – so our trained volunteers will spend time and encourage their matched patient to engage and resume some of their lost connections where possible.
