Royds Community Association (Royds) operates a thriving and diverse range of community services within the Royds ward of Bradford and beyond. The Befriending Service is offered across the WOW Partnership, an area that includes Royds, Great Horton, Wibsey and parts of Little Horton and Queensbury. The Partnership works in conjunction with key services within the Five Parks Primary Care Network , Befrienders are an invaluable resource to befriend all different age groups to improve their self-confidence, emotional health and wellbeing, reducing their social isolation and promote their independence.

Service Eligibility
Our befriending service is to support different age groups to improve their self-confidence, emotional health and wellbeing, reducing their social isolation and promote their independence. The area that we cover is the Bradford south, this is Royd’s, Great Horton, Wibsey, and parts of Little Horton and Queensbury. Information for Volunteers
Through the direction and support of the Volunteer Manager, the role requires individuals to support members of the community on a one-to-one basis within their homes or a friendly environment. With a flair for conversation, empathy and listening skills you will have a strong desire to make a difference to peoples lives. The role is challenging but highly rewarding, enhancing the lives of the local community. ; Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses such as mileage or public transport costs will be provided.; You will be required to attend Befriending Induction training and participate in any further training.; Ongoing support and supervision will be given by the Volunteer Manager either in person or call video conference.; Regular reviews will take place and an opportunity given for peer support through networking events with other Befrienders.
