Safety Net (UK)
About Safety Net (UK)
If you have been affected by rape, exploitation, sexual or domestic abuse and live in Cumbria our befriending service can support you on your recovery journey following engagement and support from the service. Our trained volunteers give a listening ear and a helping hand through one-to-one support. Volunteers will support and encourage you to access community services as well as develop your support network, as we know this is an important part of recovering from abuse. Our volunteers are trained as befrienders and understand the impact abuse has on people. If you are a survivor or have experienced the effects of rape, exploitation, sexual or domestic abuse in Cumbria you can self-refer for support from Safety Net (UK) by visiting www.safetynetuk.org or calling us on 01228 515859.

Information for Volunteers
Our befrienders work 1:1 with those who have finished their therapy or support with us. This can be via telephone or face to face and is focused on supporting individuals to build their confidence and access a range of activities and opportunities, which may include our own Coffee and Creative Hub or Men’s Groups for example.
We ask that our volunteer befrienders commit a minimum of one hour per week or fortnight following their initial training.
If you are organised, flexible, patient, emphatic and caring we want to hear from you.
