About Sensory Matters Worcestershire
Sensory Matters Worcestershire are the only charity in the county dedicated to improving the lives of local people who are blind or visually impaired, Deaf, d/Deaf, hard of hearing or dual sensory loss – and you will be joining a team of very special volunteers, who play a huge part in changing the lives of people affected by sight loss.
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, with a variety of skills and abilities to offer.
You will receive training, relevant to the roles you choose, and you will only be expected to take on activities with which you feel comfortable.
We offer a wide range of volunteer roles to suit individual interests and skills, including:
Face to face befrienders
Telephone befriending
Drivers
Group volunteers
Events and fundraising
Administration volunteers
Trustees

Service Eligibility
We support people who are blind or visually impaired, Deaf, d/Deaf, hard of hearing or dual sensory loss, across the county of Worcestershire.
Referrals to our service can be made in a variety of ways:
Self referral
Family/friend referral (with consent)
GP/health professional referral
Sensory Impairment Team
Information for Volunteers
Roles vary between 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on the role you choose.
A DBS certificate may be required for some roles.
Key qualities: kind-hearted, honest, social, chatty, genuinely caring, a good sense of humour, can make a brilliant brew, well organised, flexible, approachable, patient, reliable.
