About The Greenwich Carers Centre

Here at Greenwich Carers Centre we are proud to support those who dedicate their time to caring for family, friends and neighbours living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.  Our services are varied and range from tailored one-to-one practical and emotional support to educational workshops, information and advice to wellbeing and recreational activities.  Our aim is to reach out to include the diverse community of carers and cared-for in the borough of Greenwich.  Our Carers Link Project is a befriending project that reaches out to older (65+), isolated carers, and recently bereaved carers, to provide companionship, stimulation and to enjoy small activities, building confidence for the carer to reconnect with the outside world.

Service Eligibility

The Carers Link Project Criteria

What is the Carers Link Project?

The Carers Link Project is a one-to-one befriending service aimed at reaching the most isolated, unpaid, older carers and bereaved carers in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Referral Criteria

Whilst we do not like to turn any carer away, priority will be given to:

Unpaid carers who are caring for a person:

  • Very isolated, unable to get out regularly and do not have any family, friends or neighbours that can support them.
  • Aged 65 years +
  • Bereaved carers who are isolated, have no support networks.

We Can’t Support Complex Needs

Our volunteers do not have specialist training; therefore, although we support carers with a mild mental health condition or neurocognitive disorder such as dementia, it would be at a low level and referrals would be made to the appropriate services to meet their needs.
