Village Friends
About Village Friends
Village Friends provides friendship. We drop in for a chat to the person on a regular basis. We have a number of volunteers who visit people in their homes on the basis of good neighbourliness. Village Friends was set up in the 1980’s when Dr Peter Wallis and the Reverend Douglas Farnham became aware of the loneliness and isolation of mainly, but not exclusively, older and bereaved men and women in the 6 Villages of Aldingbourne, Walberton, Yapton, Barnham, Eastergate and Westergate.
It offers a truly local, Village service. We hold free lunches, 3 times a year, for the Village Friends and their volunteers. Those that are keen and not housebound also go to Barnham community hall to the coffee morning on a Wednesday morning.
Service Eligibility
Anyone that is in the six villages area can be supported. This includes Aldingbourne, Barnham, Walberton, Westergate and Eastergate. (West Sussex)
Village Friends volunteers provide friendship but do not provide any personal care, cleaning, gardening or taxi service.

Information for Volunteers
We always welcome new volunteers. You need to have a friendly listening ear and the ability to get on with people. As a volunteer, you would need to be consistent and have regular contact with your client. Maybe visit once a week for a hour at a time, that’s conveinient to yourself and the person visiting. The volunteers also get together socially as a group too.
If you would like to volunteer please call: 07925217843 or email megbrackley@icloud.com or message me on Facebook at: Village Friends – six villages
