About Volunteer Now

Volunteer Now’s Befriending Scheme supports people 65+ living in their own home in Belfast.  We aim to support people who are feeling lonely and or isolated perhaps due to lack of family support or contact from friends.  We aim to find a suitable volunteer who can visit once a week for friendship, share a cuppa and have a good chat.  Hoping that this relationship will give people something to look forward to each week.

Northern Ireland, BT4 1AF

Service Eligibility

People 65+ living in their own home in Belfast, Northern Ireland who have expressed feelings of loneliness or feelings of isolation.
The service is funded by the Belfast Trust and referrals can be made by Belfast Trust staff e.g. social workers, wellbeing coordinators

Information for Volunteers

Volunteer Now’s befriending scheme is funded by Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and supports older people living in their own homes who have been referred because they are lonely and or isolated or at risk of social isolation.  We aim to reduce these feelings by introducing a volunteer befriender who can visit each week to provide company, a listening ear and a friendly face.  Hoping to give this person something to look forward to and help reduce any feelings of loneliness isolation they may be feeling.
