Purpose of this event

We know that many projects are getting increasing numbers of referrals and experiencing difficulties in recruiting volunteers.  These are some of the challenges that impact on your waiting list.

We are joined by Befriending Caithness one of our Quality Award holders.  They have adapted their project over the past few years to tackle their waiting list.  This has included incorporating more group befriending opportunities, looking at new ways to promote their service with technology and creating new volunteer roles to encourage younger people to join them.

Elspeth Manson, Senior Co-ordinator will be sharing some of the challenges and solutions they have found to tackle these difficulties that many projects are facing.

Befriending Caithness is a befriending service which offers isolated adults aged 40 and upwards, in Caithness a chance to meet a friendly face on a weekly basis. They also run a  monthly lunch group in Lyth Arts Centre and a group in Armadale Hall Sutherland. Find out more about them in our directory.

We are very grateful to Elspeth Manson for donating her time and sharing best practices with attendees.
