Our course guides you through the full training cycle—preparing, facilitating, and evaluating training. Through a blend of live online sessions and self-paced e-learning, you’ll build practical skills to strengthen volunteer or staff training programmes, with opportunities to collaborate, ask questions, and apply your learning in real time.
Who should attend?
This course covers a wide range of materials, activities and tasks to support participants in developing the skills of a trainer. Learning objectives include, but are not limited to:
We recommend one month for this course, allowing time to prepare for the first class and review learning at the completion of the final class. The course runs across three weeks, with one live Zoom session per week and approximately two hours of independent study per session.
In advance of the first class, participants will receive access to e-learning for independent study, accessing resources, weekly assignments, and ongoing support. This is to support participants’ time management and to ensure course assignments can be completed on time.
Attendance at all three core sessions and completion of all assignments are required for certification. The course schedule is:
This course uses a blended learning approach. Learners are given early access to the training platform and are expected to complete independent learning, assignments, and class activities.

This course requires good time management; however, the facilitator is available throughout the course to support learners who may be struggling.
Learn how to design effective, inclusive training sessions for your participants. Topics explored in week one include:
Assignment of week one
All participants prepare and submit a teaching plan for a training session to demonstrate their ability to design effective sessions and their understanding of the subject matter.
Take your planning forward into action with live peer facilitation. Topics explored in week two include:

All participants deliver a 15-minute training session to their peers, demonstrating their ability to facilitate.
Receive and give feedback while planning improvements. Topics explored in week three include:

All participants will reflect on their own facilitation of week two, and evaluate their peers’ sessions using the provided tools.
There is a student drop-in available for any participant who would like additional support. These are online sessions on Zoom for those who want or need time with the course coach to discuss course materials and assignments.
