
5 things you can do to get ready for Volunteers’ Week 2025!

Want to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution your volunteers make? Join us for this year’s Volunteers’ Week campaign, when we’ll be joining people all over the UK to share the positive impact volunteering makes in our communities. To help you get ready, here are 5 useful events and resources focused on recognising and supporting your volunteers. We look forward to seeing you there!

1. Boost your skills in Volunteer Retainment
Thursday 22 May, 12:30 – 14:30
Learn the 7 key principles of volunteer retention at this short, interactive training course. You’ll also get access to a digital delegate pack of resources to put your learning into action.

2. Discuss volunteer recognition at Leaders and Managers networking
Monday 26 May, 12:30 – 13:30
Connect with leaders in befriending organisations to share creative and meaningful ways to acknowledge the contribution your volunteers make to your project. Members only.

3. Sign your volunteers up for Being a Befriender
Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 June, 18:00 – 19:00
This Volunteers’ Week, we’re running two special Being a Befriender events for your volunteer befrienders. They’ll have a chance to connect with like-minded people, share their experiences and get some top tips on being a befriender.

4. Secure your spot on Train the Trainer
Starting Tuesday 3 June
Volunteers’ Week is a great opportunity for volunteer recruitment. Ensure you are prepared to train your team by joining Train the Trainer, a course run over three weeks with e-learning and live sessions to help you develop your skills and confidence in preparing, facilitating and evaluating your training.
You’ll have a chance to apply your learning in practical assignments, ask questions in drop-in sessions and access further resources in your digital delegate pack.

5. Download Volunteers’ Week resources
Whether you’re holding a Volunteers’ Week or joining in online, the Volunteers’ Week website has a range of resources to make it easier to take part. They’ve got social media graphics, photo props, creative activities for all ages and more.
