Volunteering for Health - Castle Cary Good NeighboursAbout Spark Somerset
Spark Somerset are the VCFSE Infrastructure charity for Somerset – we provide a range of services to help voluntary community, faith and social enterprise organisations in Somerset get started, operate sustainably, and maximise their impact. Currently we are the lead partner for the Volunteering for Health project in the county working alongside the county council, ICB and NHS Foundation Trust. Through place-based pilot projects we are working to identify need and find opportunities to develop volunteering projects which will tackle those issues, in both primary care settings and through local community groups. Social isolation and loneliness has been raised repeatedly and we are currently collaborating with a group of organisations in Castle Cary to create a network of community buddies, using befriending techniques to help people feel confident to join existing clubs and societies.
