Do you want to help make your community more dementia-resilient?

With the number of people in the UK with dementia predicted to rise to over 1.4 million by 2040, it is vital that we are equipped with the skills to support those living with dementia.

Connected Lives Dementia and Social Connection e-learning is a short, self-paced course for volunteers and carers. It will offer education and guidance to equip you with the skills and confidence you need to support people living with dementia.

Who is it for?

The Connected Lives e-learning is designed with volunteers and carers in mind, but is free and accessible for all.

What will I learn?

Modules will include:

  • Understanding different types of dementia and how they present, supporting volunteers to recognise signs in people not yet formally diagnosed
  • The positive impact of befriending on people experiencing dementia and memory loss
  • Practical tips for effective relationship-based support
  • Building relationships with families, friends, carers and wider services
  • Signposting to additional resources and support

When will it be available?

The Connected Lives e-learning is currently in development and will be available later this year. Sign up for updates to be notified of release dates.

Can I get training in dementia and social connection?

Yes! The Connected Lives project also includes a free programme of live training in 20 locations across Scotland and online. Volunteers and carers based in Scotland are welcome to attend. Find out more about training.
