Argyll and Bute Befrienders achieve Quality in Befriending Award
4th August 2026
Congratulations to Argyll and Bute Befrienders, who have just achieved their Quality in Befriending Award reaccreditation.
Argyll and Bute Befrienders is a one-to-one befriending project for children and young people aged 6–18 in Argyll and Bute who are experiencing adversity, isolation, or other challenges. The project matches young people with trained volunteer befrienders who provide consistent, compassionate companionship, along with social and emotional support.
Their assessment showed that Argyll and Bute Befrienders is a small, warm, relationship-focused service with a strong learning culture. The service is conscientious, person-centred and open to change and development. Throughout, but especially during the live evidence assessment and staff interview, there was clear evidence of reflective practice and openness to change and development. Young people spoke positively about their experiences and confirmed that they feel well supported and have regular contact with the service. The volunteers spoke very warmly about their experience of joining the service and their ongoing role as volunteers, describing how much they value the opportunity to support young people.
Congratulations on achieving your reaccreditation!
