Purpose of course

Safeguarding is a very important topic within any community project. Befriending Networks recommends seeking certified courses and resources to best support and protect vulnerable groups. This introductory course was created in response to demand from the network, which requested information specific to befriending. Introduction to Safeguarding has been designed to provide support and overarching guidance to those operating and delivering a befriending service.

Discussion points include

Defining vulnerability and abuse
Identifying safeguarding concerns and responding appropriately
Legislation, policies and procedures related to safeguarding
Good practice in a safeguarding policy and procedure
Addressing the limitations of your project and signposting appropriately

Resources and additional support

All attendees will gain access to the course delegate pack, which includes the Befriending Networks safeguarding booklet and additional support materials. This includes a series of tutorial videos, members’ examples of policies and procedures, and signposting to accredited courses.

Attendees are invited to submit their safeguarding policy and procedure for an audit against best practice.

Please check your diary before committing to any dates. We understand that your circumstances may require a change of training dates. If you need to cancel or defer your order:

Up to 3 working days before the course begins: your order will be refunded, subject to a £15 administration fee. Alternatively, you can defer your order to the next occurrence of the same course.
Within 3 working days of the course beginning, including non-attendance: your order is non-refundable and cannot be deferred.

Please note that all courses operate with a minimum number of delegates. If this number is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the event. Your event facilitator will contact you to discuss options. In such cases where we cannot fulfil your order, a full refund will be given. You can contact the facilitator of your event, or victoria@befriending.co.uk to discuss your booking.
