Edinburgh City Mission runs two befriending services: one for those over the age of 65 and one for New Scots.
Two’s Company is a scheme run by Edinburgh City Mission in partnership with Linking Lives UK to support older people facing loneliness and isolation and to actively bring community, connection and care into their lives.
Salaam Befriending connects befrienders with New Scots, that is people who have recently arrived in the city seeking refuge to provide opportunities to practice English, explore the city and develop mutually enriching friendships.
Both schemes unleash the volunteering capacity of the local church but provide their services to all.
Service Eligibility
There are numerous ways that people can refer to our befriending services. We accept family and self-referrals but also receive referrals from GPs, Community Link Workers and other agencies.
