Wrth inni nodi Wythnos Cyfeillio 2025, hoffwn ddiolch o galon i Befriending Networks, y sefydliadau sy’n aelodau ledled Cymru, a’r mwy na 1,000 o wirfoddolwyr ymroddedig sy’n rhoi o’u hamser, eu tosturi a’u hegni i gynorthwyo eraill yng Nghymru drwy gyfeillio.

Mae teimlo’n unig yn brofiad anghyfartal ac mae eich gwaith yn chwarae rhan bwysig o ran gwella iechyd meddwl a llesiant miloedd o bobl unig neu ynysig yn gymdeithasol ledled Cymru. O ganlyniad i’ch ymrwymiad i feithrin cysylltiadau ystyrlon, rydych chi’n helpu i greu Cymru fwy tosturiol a chynhwysol ac yn gwneud gwahaniaeth trawsnewidiol i fywydau pobl bob dydd.

Boed hynny drwy alwad ffôn gyfeillgar, drwy ymweld yn rheolaidd neu’n syml, drwy fod yno i wrando, mae eich ymdrechion yn gwneud gwahaniaeth gwirioneddol a pharhaol. Rydych chi’n cynnig gobaith yn ogystal â chwmni ac rwy’n teimlo bod angen cydnabod hyn wrth gynnal y dathliadau yr wythnos hon.

Ar ran Llywodraeth Cymru, diolch ichi am bopeth rydych chi’n ei wneud. Rwy’n gobeithio y bydd yr wythnos hon yn gyfle ichi ddathlu eich cyflawniadau ac effaith bwerus cyfeillio.

Diolch o galon

As we mark Befriending Week 2025, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Befriending Networks, your member organisations across Wales, and the more than 1,000 dedicated volunteers who give their time, compassion, and energy to support others in Wales through befriending.

Feeling lonely is an unequal experience and your work plays a vital role in improving the mental health and wellbeing of thousands of lonely or socially isolated people across Wales. Through your commitment to building meaningful connections, you are helping to create a more compassionate and inclusive Wales and making a transformational difference to people’s lives every day.

Whether through a friendly phone call, a regular visit, or simply being there to listen, your efforts make a real and lasting difference. You are not only offering companionship, you are offering hope and I feel it is only right to recognise this as part of the celebrations this week.

On behalf of the Welsh Government, thank you for everything you do. I hope you take this week to celebrate your achievements and the powerful impact of befriending.

My heartfelt thanks,

Sarah Murphy MS
Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing
