How you can support befriending
1st November 2026
Befriending Week is all about coming together to celebrate and support the befriending sector. Here are 3 simple ways you can show your support for the hardworking and passionate befriending teams who are building connections every day.
1. Give your time
Befriending is possible because of the volunteer befrienders who generously give their time to build meaningful connections with service users. If you enjoy connecting with people and are interesting in offering your time as a volunteer, our members would love to hear from you.
Explore our directory to find a service that matches your values, experiences and interests.
2. Share stories
Join the Befriending Week campaign to share why befriending and social connection are important to you. You can post on your website or social media – make sure you tag us so we catch your post! You can also post a message of support on our Befriending Week message board.
If youโd like to go the extra mile to advocate for befriending, you can write to your local representative asking them to prioritise local initiatives that build social connection and reduce loneliness.
3. Donate
Befriending Networks is a charity and member organisation that supports over 275 befriending services across the UK, Ireland and beyond. Every donation makes a big difference and helps us offer more support. Donate now
If youโd prefer to donate to a service working with a specific community, search our directory to find a befriending charity or community project that matches your interests.
Thank you for supporting Befriending Week!
