Glasgow’s Golden Generation – Natalie’s Story
25th September 2019
Nine years ago, while unemployed, Natalie began volunteering with Glasgow’s Golden Generation.
She didn’t have any experience in care work but was particularly interested in working with older people and, having volunteered with GGG in the David Cargill Centre for a year she was offered a post as part time support worker. A few months later she was then offered a full time post working between two day centres. While working for GGG she was offered the opportunity to undertake training and has now completed an SVQ 2, SVQ 3 and is working on SVQ 4 training to be manager at the day centre.
Now a senior support worker, Natalie loves her job. She said ‘Glasgow’s Golden Generation is a very welcoming organisation that gave me support to do the job I always wanted to do.”
