Monifieth Befrienders

Monifieth Befrienders’ “Friendship Group” was set up in March using a Tesco “Bags of help” award. The idea was for people waiting for a befriender to get together for soup, a sandwich a game of dominoes and a blether.

It has proved very popular with around 18 people attending regularly.

Four volunteers take turns to make delicious soup and the bread and fillings for the sandwiches are paid for from the Tesco grant.

0ne lady, who has problems socialising and meeting people in groups says that she now looks forward to a Monday, which in her words, is “ the best day of the week”.

Three ladies who met at the group now meet every Thursday afternoon for a coffee and remark on how their lives have now changed dramatically. Watch their short film here.
