Age Concern Mole Valley
About Age Concern Mole Valley
The Age Concern Mole Valley Befriending service is for older people who are lonely and socially isolated. A Volunteer Befriender will visit to provide companionship on a regular basis. The primary role of a Befriender is to provide some company and a listening ear to those who do not have many friends and family nearby. The service also helps identify further needs and concerns and allows us to offer additional assistance and support via our information & signposting service, which includes working with other organisations and local authorities. All our volunteers are DBS and reference checked for this service.

Service Eligibility
Our vision is all encompassing and clear, ‘Improving the lives of older people’. Here are several of the charity’s key strategic aims, which underpin this vision:
- Reduce loneliness and isolation in Mole Valley for older people
- Improve the health and wellbeing of older people
- Make greater connections with the local community
The older person will be living alone experiencing some level of isolation and loneliness.
The Befriending Service will not be suited to older people who have family nearby and/or a network of relationships already in place, or are currently mobile, driving and accessing activities in the community.
Due to the level of support needed both for the client and for our volunteers we are unable to support clients who have mental health, memory, or dementia concerns.
