Age UK Lincoln and South Lincolnshire
About Age UK Lincoln and South Lincolnshire
The Befriending Service is for people who feel lonely and isolated, especially due to frailty and or physical impairments that prevents them from leaving their homes to enjoy companionship. As little as half an hour a week can make such a difference to an older person. The service is enjoyed by both the client and the volunteer having a positive effect on their wellbeing. The service supports older people living in the following areas of Lincolnshire: Lincoln, Boston, North Kesteven, South Kesteven, South Holland. We prioritise referrals for older people who are unable to get out and about and therefore unable to join local social activities. Due to the rural nature of our area, this includes those geographically isolated where there is nothing for them to join locally. The Befriendee will be over the age of 50, not working or seeking employment. They will not be receiving a befriending service from another organisation. Participants must be able to communicate effectively and form a mutually rewarding social relationship. They will want to engage in the service and enjoy the companionship it brings. Priority will be given to those living alone or being cared for.
