Age UK Solihull’s Community Connections service supports older people across Solihull to build friendships, stay connected and reduce loneliness and isolation.

We offer a range of services and activities designed to help older people enjoy meaningful social contact, increase their confidence and become more involved in their local community.  Whether you’re looking to meet new people, take part in regular activities, receive one-to-one support, or simply enjoy a friendly conversation, Community Connections has something for everyone.

We aim to help older people feel connected, valued and supported, improving wellbeing and reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Service Eligibility

 Our Services 
Linking People Together: Short-term support (typically 6-8 weeks) to help people access local activities, build confidence and stay connected. Digital support can also be provided to help people use technology to keep in touch with others. 
Eligibility:

  • Aged 65+
  • Solihull resident
  • Experiencing loneliness or social isolation, or at risk of becoming isolated
  • Able to participate in planning their support
  • Willing to work with us on a personalised support plan

Enabling Connections  (typically 4-6 months) to help people build confidence, increase social connections, and become more involved in their community. 
Eligibility:

  • Aged 50+
  • Solihull resident
  • Experiencing loneliness or social isolation due to circumstances such as bereavement, retirement, or a health condition
  • Able to participate in planning their support
  • Willing to work towards agreed goals

Information for Volunteers

Volunteers are important members of Age UK Solihull.  We don’t have a typical volunteer, they come from all walks of life and are all ages.  You may want to make a difference to an older person’s life, develop new skills or simply want to meet new people.  We ask that you are dependable, reliable and able to maintain clear boundaries.  Please visit the Age UK Solihull website for further information.
