About Befriending and Adult Autism Support (BAAS)
Befriending and Adult Autism Support (BAAS) is an award winning grassroots charity based in Bolton supporting autistic adults and their families. Our Vision: A society that accepts, involves and understands autistic people. Where all autistic adults and their carers feel they belong. We run regular group social events and a Befriending Service, matching our adult autistic members with a Volunteer Befriender. Our befriending visits take place in the community, in the Bolton and Bury areas, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Volunteers meet their befriendees for a couple of hours every week.

Information for Volunteers
BAAS Befriending aims to put the Befriendee at the centre of the service. We spend time getting to know the Befriendee, find out their likes and dislikes, where they want to go, what they want to be, and then we match them with a trained and an enhanced DBS checked volunteer. It sounds easy, and we know it isn’t always just as easy as that! This is why we have a dedicated Volunteer Co-ordinator who will support both the Volunteer Befriender and Befriendee during every step of the process. Our befriending visits take place in the community, in the Bolton and Bury areas, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
