About Burmantofts Community Friends
At BCF, we believe no one should feel alone. Our Befriending Service offers weekly wellbeing calls and in-person visits for people aged 55+ in the Leeds area who would enjoy a friendly chat and connection. Whether you’re looking to make new friends, share stories, or just talk, our trained volunteers are here to listen and support you. We tailor the service to your needs—by phone or face-to-face—to help build trust, companionship, and community. Ideal for those living alone or feeling isolated, BCF’s Befriending Service makes friendship just a call or visit away.

Service Eligibility
Our Befriending Service is for anyone aged 55+ living in the Leeds area who would benefit from regular wellbeing calls or friendly in-person visits. We welcome people from all backgrounds who may be feeling lonely or isolated.
To access the service, you’ll need to join Burmantofts Community Friends (BCF)—membership is free and easy to set up. While there are no medical requirements, we can only support those within the Leeds area.

Information for Volunteers
Become a Call Companion! Chat, connect, and brighten someone’s day with a weekly call.
As a Call Companion, you’ll offer friendship to someone feeling lonely or isolated. Calls last 10 mins to 1 hour and take place on Thursdays from 1–3PM. No experience needed—just a friendly voice and a willingness to help!
Key tasks:

✅ Provide companionship
✅ Keep notes & share concerns
✅ Respect privacy & dignity
