About Crossroads Fife

Crossroads Fife Befriending Service provides Volunteer Befrienders to support vulnerable adults, who are isolated and lonely.

Crossroads Fife is an independent charity formed in January 2001 from the merger of other schemes in Fife which were around since 1980. However, the original idea to support individuals and their carers arose from ‘Crossroads’ (1972 TV soap) which portrayed Sandy Richardson and the dramatic impact of his disability on his family and carers.

Our Volunteer Befrienders are carefully selected and trained to support people living in North East Fife, Central Fife and Levenmouth. Volunteer Befrienders provide regular social interaction by phone, home visit or accompany out and about in the local community. Having someone to talk and laugh with makes all the difference in keeping connected and continuing to enjoy life.

If you could benefit from a Volunteer Befriender’s support, to help alleviate the negative effects of social isolation and loneliness, please contact Suzanne Forsyth, Befriending Coordinator by phone 01592 630253 or email suzanne@crossroadsg.co.uk

If you would like to make a donation to Crossroads Fife please phone 01592 610540 or email info@crossroadsg.co.uk

Information for Volunteers

Crossroads Fife Befriending Service provides Volunteer Befrienders to support vulnerable adults, who are socially isolated and lonely, which negatively impacts on their physical and mental health.

Can you help transform someone’s life, simply by volunteering just an hour or so per week? If you would like to gift your time to support people living in North East Fife, Central Fife and Levenmouth, we would love to hear from you. You can make a massive difference to help vulnerable people to continue to enjoy life as well as improve their confidence and well-being – as well as your own.

As a good communicator, you can share and encourage stories, interests, have a laugh and enjoy each other’s company over the phone, in the person’s home or in their local community. As an good listener, you can provide much needed emotional support and be able to signpost them to other sources of valuable information and support. As a good companion, you can accompany them to visit their local cafe or a walk in the local community.

Through your gift of volunteering, you can meet new friends, learn new skills, gain valuable experience and improve your chances of pursuing education or employment.

If you would like to be part of something worthwhile that has such a positive impact on yourself and others, please contact Suzanne Forsyth, Befriending Coordinator by phone 01592 630253, email suzanne@crossroadsg.co.uk or visit our website www.crossroadsfifecentral.org
