Information for Volunteers
Fife Women’s Aid befriending service aims to encourage women survivors of domestic abuse to be out in, and engage with, their local community. Confidence building is core to all activities, encouraging women to become more independent. Volunteers will be involved in supporting women to participate in activities of their befriendee’s choice, such as attending a local gym, participating in a course at a community centre, going shopping, or going for a walk. The befriending service aims to reduce isolation amongst women who have experienced domestic abuse by increasing engagement with the local community. Through this it is hoped that women gain a sense of personal achievement and that there is a positive impact on their health and wellbeing.
