About Highland Hospice Helping Hands

Highland Hospice Helping Hands service is a volunteer delivered befriending service.  It provides social and practical support for people thought to be in the last 2-3 years of life.  People do not need to have a specific diagnosis to receive support and the support delivered is tailored to the individuals needs within their own home community.  The Helping Hands team also offer end of life support within Hospitals and Care Homes.  This support is called No One Dies Alone and is for people with prognosis of 24-72 hours.  The volunteers are companions who sit with people who have no-one or the family member requires some respite or the support of someone to sit with them.  Highland Hospice work in partnership with befriending services throughout the Highlands.  We currently have twelve partnership befriending services.
