Ilkley & District Good Neighbours
BefriendingAbout Ilkley & District Good Neighbours
Our cheerful befriending volunteers are committed to helping improve the lives of older people who are experiencing feelings of loneliness or social isolation. Befrienders offer an hour of their time to visit an older person in their own home once a week for friendly conversation and a listening ear. Our clients and befrienders share stories and recipes, do puzzles or jigsaws together, and discuss everything from current affairs to ballroom dancing! Sometimes befrienders and their clients go out to a local cafe or for a short walk, if that is appropriate. Our befriending matches suit people who are looking for medium to long term support (6 months +), who live in their own home. People who live alone are prioritised. We look forward to hearing from you!
