About Interest Link Borders
We work across the Scottish Borders improving the quality of life of socially isolated children and adults with learning disabilities aged 8+ and their family carers. We achieve this through peer-age volunteer befriending: creating friendship groups and 1:1 links for 255 members, providing new opportunities and improving wellbeing, confidence & social skills.
We have four branches covering Roxburgh, Tweeddale, Central Borders and Berwickshire. Members and families can come directly to us to request a service.
Service Eligibility
Any child or young person aged 8-25 with learning disabilities or autism.
Any adult with learning disabilities.
Information for Volunteers
We are looking for people of all ages, from all walks of life and from every corner of the Borders to volunteer and make an impact on the quality of life of over 300 socially isolated children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and autism who use our services.
You don’t need any special experience or skills, just your goodwill and a few hours every fortnight.
As well as seeing the big difference you make to someone’s life, you will form rich and rewarding friendships during your time with us.
We have four local branches (Roxburgh, Tweeddale, Central Borders and Berwickshire). You would be prepared and supported by your local Co-ordinator, who will also organise membership of the PVG scheme for working with children and adults at risk.
