About LEAP Project
LEAP works in a number of communities within South Lanarkshire providing free befriending, handyperson and dementia services, friendship groups and activities and classes to people aged 50 and over who are lonely and isolated, helping them remain safe in their homes and a part of their community. Our befriending and dementia services are available in Cambuslang, Rutherglen, Blantyre, Bothwell, Uddingston, Hamilton and East Kilbride. Our handyperson service is also available in Strathaven and Avondale, while our activities and classes are available in Cambuslang, Rutherglen, Blantyre and Hamilton. Information for Volunteers
LEAP’s volunteering opportunities include:
One-to-one befriending, matching volunteer befrienders with clients aged 50 and over in their homes to offer companionship and chat, helping combat isolation and loneliness.
Telephone befriending, offering weekly calls from a volunteer to a client.
Friendship groups, supporting groups to meet and join in activities that help combat loneliness and isolation.
Dementia services, including lunch clubs that meet every two weeks and which offer a range of support and activities for both people living with dementia and their carers.
A handyperson service, offering volunteers opportunities to do small jobs for people who can no longer do so themselves.
All our volunteer opportunities offer comprehensive induction, training, development and support and supervision, plus activities throughout the year for volunteers to come together.
