About Learning Disability Wales
Gig Buddies Cymru/Ffrindiau Gig Cymru
Gig Buddies Cymru is a befriending scheme that matches adults with a learning disability and/or autism with volunteers who share the same interests, so they can go to gigs and other social events together. This could be anything from a live music event to a pottery painting class, it is just about everyone having the opportunity to do what they enjoy with a friend rather than a person who is paid to be supporting them.
Imagine if you had to leave every night at 9pm! This is reality for many people with learning disabilities due to lack of support and opportunities, but with the help of a gig buddy this doesn’t need to be the case.

Information for Volunteers
Being a Gig Buddy is a very flexible and fun way of volunteering. We typically ask people to volunteer one evening a month, to go to an event or activity that you and your gig buddy enjoy. This could be anything from a live music event to a pottery painting class, it is just about everyone having the opportunity to do what they enjoy with a friend rather than a person who is paid to be supporting them.
A few hours of your time every month could change someone’s life.
