Leuchie At Home
About Leuchie At Home
Leuchie House is a National Respite Centre for individuals with long term neurological conditions. Our new befriending service “Leuchie at Home” is a natural progression of the service where we have identified a need in the community and want to provide volunteer befriending to individuals some of whom we know who are isolated and lonely and who are seeking support and also to allow their unpaid carer to attend support groups and meet friends.
Service Eligibility
Volunteers must be over 21 and physically fit.
Information for Volunteers
Volunteers in our new service will be matched to individuals in their own homes and will visit them on a regular basis and establish a ongoing relationship chatting about a common interest or assisting them with an activity. This will also allow their unpaid carer to catch up with a friend for a chat, attend appointments, go shopping, catch up with things around the house or to relax.
Volunteers will be provided with a thorough induction programme, supported in their new role and supervised on a regular basis to ensure they happy in their position. Regular training opportunities will be available in relation to the differing conditions they will come across and any challenges they may face.
