About Mind in Bradford
Community Companions are trained volunteers, who offer one-to-one support to build up a friendship and encourage confidence to be able to meet face-to-face out in their local community. The aim is to support individuals experiencing loneliness, social isolation, anxiety and depression to access local community groups, activities and services. This support will help improve their mental health, by building new relationships and encouraging human interaction. Mind in Bradford runs the project in partnership with the Bradford Districts CCG.

Service Eligibility
Community Companions is a befriending service available to anyone in Bradford district and Craven aged 18 and over.
The service supports people with:
- loneliness
- social isolation
- mental health issues
Information for Volunteers
Community Companions is available to anyone aged 18 and over living in Bradford District and Craven who is struggling with loneliness, social isolation and mental health issues. Once volunteers are matched with a befriendee they will meet for up to one hour each week in-person to listen to you and encourage you to get out into the community. Your befriending support with your match will last for three months.
Our volunteers will receive training, Induction and a DBS check and then offer one-to-one support, building confidence and encouraging individuals to access local community activities and make new friendships.
