About New Mills & District Volunteer Centre
Our Befriending Service is aimed at people who are feeling lonely and socially isolated and who live in New Mills and the surrounding areas in High Peak (including Hayfield, Whaley Bridge, Chapel en le Frith, Furness Vale and Birch Vale). We will talk to you to understand your interests and needs and then match you with a volunteer who has been recruited and trained by us. Volunteers can visit you in your home for some company and chat, we also offer a telephone befriending service where if you would appreciate a weekly telephone call then help is at hand.

Information for Volunteers
Our Befriending Service is aimed at lonely and socially isolated adults who live in New Mills and the surrounding areas in High Peak (including Hayfield, Whaley Bridge, Chapel en le Frith, Furness Vale and Birch Vale). Are you a good listener who would like to make a difference to a lonely person in your community? We’re looking for volunteers who can act as a ‘good neighbour’ by either calling or telephoning people with the aim of reducing loneliness, with a commitment of 1-2 hours every week or fortnight. Full training and support will be provided.
