About Niamz Companions

At Niamz Companions, we provide compassionate, person-centred companionship that helps people stay connected, independent, and supported.  Our services include in-person companionship, phone companionship, wellbeing calls, befriending, community outings, appointment accompaniment, shopping support, light household assistance, respite companionship, and welfare checks.  Whether visiting someone at home or offering a friendly phone call, our focus is on building meaningful relationships, reducing loneliness, and promoting emotional wellbeing.  We tailor our support to each individual’s needs, providing flexible, reliable companionship delivered with kindness, dignity, and respect, so every person feels valued, heard, and connected.

Please note, there is a charge for our service.

Service Eligibility

Niamz Companions supports adults aged 18 and over who are experiencing loneliness, social isolation, reduced confidence, or who would benefit from regular companionship and community engagement.  We welcome referrals for older adults, unpaid carers, people living with long-term health conditions or disabilities, and individuals who are socially isolated.  Our service currently operates across North Lanarkshire, East Dunbartonshire, Glasgow, and surrounding areas, subject to availability.  We are unable to provide personal care, nursing care, or crisis intervention services. Referrals can be made by individuals, family members, health and social care professionals, community organisations, or other agencies by contacting us directly via phone, email, or our website.

Information for Volunteers

Volunteers are at the heart of Niamz Companions, helping to reduce loneliness and build meaningful connections within the community.  The role involves providing one-to-one companionship through regular visits, friendly conversations, walks, community activities, or telephone support, depending on the needs of the person being befriended.  We ask volunteers to commit to approximately 1–3 hours per week for a minimum of six months where possible.  Full induction, training, ongoing support, and PVG checks are provided.  We welcome caring, reliable, respectful, and empathetic individuals with good listening skills and a genuine desire to make a positive difference.

To apply, simply contact Niamz Companions by phone, email, or through our website to begin the application process.
