About The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice Befriending Service

The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, Glasgow, offers a Befriending Service to adults living in the Hospice area of Glasgow South and G76 & G77, who have a life-limiting illness and are experiencing isolation and loneliness.  Following a referral into the Befriending Service by a professional, the patient will be suitably matched with a Befriender who will spend quality time sharing interests and hobbies as well as providing support and companionship.  There is no cost.

The Befriender will visit between 1-3 hours on a set day, once a week, for 8 weeks, within the patient`s home or in the local community.  The Hospice is aware of the effects of isolation and loneliness can have on a person’s mental and physical health, so our trained volunteer Befrienders will spend time with their matched patient to blether, laugh, enjoy music, films and share interests.
