Rainbow Communities
Rainbow FriendsAbout Rainbow Communities
We are a new “by and for” LGBT+ charity, supporting and empowering vulnerable members of the LGBT+ community. Working across generational and cultural divides, we focus on what unites our community – a need for understanding, for acceptance and inclusivity, to promote equality, foster the diversity of our community and enable a sense of belonging, friendship and fun.
The befriending service is designed to help ease isolation and build social links and it does not offer specialist therapeutic help or services. However, we can also signpost you onto other specialist services, for example if you have health or welfare needs.

Service Eligibility
Befriendees who would like to join the service should register with us to become a member. We will then contact you to discuss your needs and how we can best help and to seek to link you to a volunteer befriender as soon as we identify someone suitable. Registering as a member is free and doesn’t commit you to any action.
Depending on your circumstances, we can occasionally arrange fact-to-face contact for some befriendees. However, the Befriending service is mainly an online service and face-to-face contact cannot be guaranteed.
Our online Members Befrienders Forum meets quarterly where you can talk with other members and befrienders and decide on activities or projects which will help you or develop the service.
