Information for Volunteers

GAB is a programme designed around children and young people who experience social exclusion due to speech, language and communication barriers.  We need volunteer befrienders who can commit to a potentially long term buddy relationship with a young person.  Full training that equips buddies to understand the challenges that young people experience is both intensive and interesting.  This will provide key insights and an awareness of how to support a young person who struggles to make friends.  The young people face multiple disadvantage and lack independence and opportunities to socialise.  Buddies will play an integral and important role in the lives of the young people they are matched with.
