About The Befriending Scheme
One to One Befriending
We help create, build and nurture friendships for vulnerable people in Suffolk. Befriending is a flexible, fun way to really make a difference in someone’s life and can fit around your interests and commitments.
Service Eligibility
To be eligible for this service individuals MUST:
Live in Suffolk
Be over 16 years old
Have a learning disability
Not be accessing another face-to-face befriending service
Have limited social contact or regularly experience feelings of loneliness and / or isolation
The Befriending Scheme have the right to review the eligibility of individuals at any time where it is felt necessary to do so.*
If you would like to apply to have a Befriender, or would like to refer an individual to the service, you will need to complete a referral application form.

Information for Volunteers
As a volunteer Befriender, you’ll be matched up with a member on our waiting list, spending a little time together every other week or whenever you can. You’ll provide the member with much needed friendship and the opportunity to get out and about in their local community.
