About The Disability Social Network
The Disability Social Network’s Community Befriending Service provides free telephone befriending for adults aged 18+ living across the West Lindsey District.
We support people who are experiencing loneliness, social isolation, disability, long-term illness or simply need someone friendly to talk to each week. Our trained volunteers provide regular telephone calls, helping people build confidence, improve wellbeing and stay connected with their local community.
Every befriending match is carefully considered to create supportive, meaningful relationships that make a genuine difference to people’s lives.

Service Eligibility
Our Community Befriending Service is available to anyone aged 18 or over who lives within the West Lindsey District and would benefit from regular telephone companionship.
We welcome self-referrals, referrals from family members or friends, and referrals from health, social care and other professionals.

Information for Volunteers
Our volunteer telephone befrienders provide regular calls to adults aged 18+ living across the West Lindsey District who are experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
Volunteers usually make one call each week from home at a mutually convenient time. We ask for a commitment of approximately one hour per week for at least 12 weeks to help build meaningful and lasting relationships.
No previous experience is required. We provide training, ongoing support and guidance throughout your volunteering journey.
We are looking for friendly, reliable people who have good listening skills, empathy and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in their community.
