About The Widows Empowerment Trust
We provide support for widows across Greater Manchester that are feeling lonely and isolated to develop greater resilience and wellbeing. We provide befriending support for widows regardless age, nationality, race, faith, sexuality disability, mental health etc. We provide befriending for 6 months at which point it will be reviewed. We support newly bereaved and other widows.

Losing a life partner at any age has a severe impact on well-being. We strive to counteract loneliness, social isolation and loss of confidence in widows and widowers through our work. We promote social inclusion in the lives of anyone that has experienced bereavement.

Information for Volunteers
We provide placement opportunities and open to all volunteers old and young. We provide volunteering opportunities such as befriending, admin, book keeper, fundraiser, marketing PR, activity support volunteer in our well being centres.
As a befriender you will be matched with one of our service users. We’ll match you based on your skills, personality and location. From here you’ll be calling your client once a week or going to visit them for a check up on a 1 to 1 basis. This is extremely important for our service users as many don’t get visitors or contact at all.
